Livestock Show

The Baraga County Fair Youth Livestock Program showcases the dedication of area youth as they raise and handle their livestock. Each animal is trained to be led in the show ring and positioned to display their best features. The youth also exhibit their own showmanship skills to be judged in specific classes. 

 

Youth registered in the Market Program have the additional task of documenting weight gain, feed amounts and cost of raising their animal. The completed Market Books, on display fair weekend, demonstrate the knowledge each exhibitor gained throughout their project while also encouraging further education in livestock handling and agricultural sciences. The Livestock raised for the Market Program are sold to local buyers in an auction held after the show.
